JOB ALERT! Work with us! Creative and Digital Media Apprentice

Posted by Liam Howlett on 14th Jul 2015

Whats it like being a Creative and Digital Apprentice ?

Here at East End Prints, we love to support artists and creative people and we employ young people by annually recruiting an apprentice.  Young people keep us up to date with trends and keep us on track with ideas as well as being a damn fine investment for a small business.

Meet Liam,

Liam has been with us for nearly a year now -

EEP: Liam, can you tell us a little bit about your average day at EEP?

LH:   Well, after battling the roads cycling into Shoreditch from Sutton, I turn up on time to work with the rest of the team.

It's really great seeing all the different art coming in and going out, and having the chance to interact with both the artists and the customers. Sometimes trying to figure out what kind of posts people on social media will look at can be a pain, and a lot of the time it's pretty hit and miss. But it's great seeing people join in with the conversation like we did during the East End Print Fair and the #ShowUsYourWalls competition. I think that I had the most fun when we were having the gold show back in October, it was high stakes as every event seems to have a month turn-around from planing to hanging. But is was really cool to come into the job role in September and already be facing such an interesting project, as the gold show was.

EEP: What challenges have you faced during your apprentice?

LH: Time management! I'm not the most organised person, and even with the best structures in place it's hard to find the perfect balance between Work here, Coursework and Actually keeping some time for myself.

I've got a few tips and tricks for the next apprentice. Paying it forward

EEP: What next?

LH: Who knows... I might wander into the woods for a bit, maybe I'll come back, maybe I will start a new society with a group of Sasquatch.

Preferably, I'll pursue my interests in the media production industry and work on films and other production work, I've been making little movies since I was 8 Years Old, so I'd like to get back to focusing on that.

You can see a film I made for East End Prints Here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYVrcLasxfE

Although I would also like to keep on going with Digital Media Marketing, while it does have its challenges, it is pretty fun most of the time, and I'd like to think I can be good at it every now and then.

'I am looking forward to meeting the candidates later this month, a total of 24 applicants applied for the role, so we feel confident we will find the right one to join the team in the Autumn' Helen Edwards
