Indianapolis-based artist Jason Ratliff started illustrating children’s shadows because he wanted to “show the inherent power of a child’s potential and imagination”. His Super Shadows series portrays the aspirations of children by turning their shadows into colourful, cubist representations of some of the most popular superheroes, from Spider-Man to Catwoman. “But it’s not necessarily about the superhero or guy in the cape,” explains Ratliff. “I receive a lot of messages from parents who relate to this  images because of the dreams they have for their children.” Ratliff, who draws the illustrations by hand with pen and ink, then paints them digitally, adds: “I want to leave it up to the viewer to decide what the series means for them.”

Jason's superheroes have been a part of our catalogue since last summer and became quickly part of our best selling  items. Have you checked them out?
