Manmade : Celebrating Men Who Make
Posted by Rebeca Romero on 16th Jun 2015
This past weekend Manmade took place at the Truman Brewery . An event conceived by textile designer Sam Wingate of Mr Wingate . His initiative aimed to get more men involved with making and selling and dispel the myth that craft and making is just for the girls
.
The Manmade makers were selected by open call, with a panel of industry experts including Etsy, Crafty Fox Market, Mr Wingate, David Nicholls (Telegraph Magazine’s design editor and menswear columnist).
Lovely to see Jordan Andrew Carter there, with his hand drawn sketches juxtaposed against colourful graphic shapes.
The event included a marketplace showcasing male makers & artists, talks by inspirational designers, making workshops, live art, DJs and street food. Lovely atmosphere and beautiful artworks from already familiar and not so familiar faces.
We are really looking forward to see more events like this taking place, he hope you had the time to pass by and support a local artist, but if you didn't have the time, here is your chance to shop local this Father's Day.
