To keep on Rolling (Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’) this #MusicalMay we asked Lucky Budgie some questions about Music in the studio and Ukulele Orchestras.

Lucky Budgie is a fantastic letterpress artist with a vintage style, and work ranging from Gravy Wrestling posters, to fantastic prints featuring the best quotes. Pea rides the dusty plains of typography & hot beverages with her canine companion, Ernie Spartacus Crabtree, and often offers one-day letterpress workshops.

Hey, should I call you Pea or Budgie? And how have you been?

Call me Pea.

I've been working on a new series of prints mixing 1960's wrestlers & politics... The election really has set me on fire; I'm working like a demon at the moment, totally unstoppable.

What music inspires your work?

Smiths lyrics so far, but who knows what will happen next?

What is your favourite band?

Wake Up & Smell the Ukulele

It changes from day to day. I'm a total music tart.

Do you listen to music while you work?

with old school music stations... HPR1&4 Country & Gospel. I love I listen to BBC 6 music in the studio with the occasional flirtation the lyrics...

so bad, so good, so right on the money. It's inevitable

I will use them as a springboard for new work at some point in the future.

Can you play the Ukulele?

My dog Ernie doesn't think so, but yes I do.

Have you heard of the Ukulele Orchestra?

Yes. Anarchy in the Ukulele!! God, I wish I'd thought of that title...
