In celebration of Women's History Month, we caught up with 5 of our Bestselling female artists to chat about all things creative and their experiences as female artists. To kick things off, we chatted to the lovely Garima Dhawan. Her art focuses on block colours and is influenced by the natural world. You can explore her collection here, or read the feature below to find more about her.

Hey Garima! Let's start with finding motivation. What gets you out of bed in the morning?

I am fascinated with plants, herbs, wild edibles and always experimenting with new ingredients and dishes, and to use them in my artworks. Doing art is a lot like cooking to me...it involves careful prep, balancing and bringing exciting colours, shapes and flavours together. My 1 year old is up at 7am and then I get ready for the school run with my 5 year old. I use this time to observe nature and see what is growing and changing...it's a wonderful world of discovery and learning.

What is your favourite thing about what you do?

Playing with shapes and colours and textures makes me happy. I love working with my hands, and always experimenting with different printmaking techniques. Rolling out the ink, preparing the paper, and working in the darkroom with photo techniques is very exciting. I enjoy being in the moment and in my own little world and bringing nature in.

How do you celebrate your achievements as a female artist?

Women have been creators and healers since the beginning of time and I want to honour that and surround myself with what makes me happy. ..home, partner, children, friends, laughter, love, flowers, food, art and music.

As a female artist, I have a voice of my own and the freedom to pursue my own interests and I enjoy making money doing that. I am very appreciative and proud that my work is selling at top stores all over the world and it is just the beginning. The world is my playground. Explore Garima's stunning prints here.
