Introducing: The wonderful world of Tracie Andrews
Posted by Rebeca Romero on 20th Feb 2016
Tracie Andrews is a freelance graphic artist and illustrator living and working in the UK. And one of the latest additions to the East End Prints catalogue.
She originally studied Fine Art at university but now her work branches out into more varied modern methods of working and experimentation. Her style and subject matter is very diverse and is influenced by the world around her.
We asked Tracie a couple of questions about her art and inspiration, wanna get to know her a bit better?
Q: How did you get into art? Did you study, or just fall into it?
I have been creative for as long as I can remember, always making things, drawing and painting with whatever materials I could get my hands on. I went on to study Fine Art at university and have been creating ever since.
Q: How would you best describe your studio’s environment on a normal day?
My studio is warm and relaxed, with plenty of light. I have my space split into two areas - a clean minimal desk with my mac and intuos, and a large desk for creating mess - which I do on a regular basis :) I also have a designated area by the window for my two cats to chill out while I work.
Q: What would you say your art style is?
I don’t think I have a style per se, my way of working is very much instinct driven. I am influenced and inspired by so many different things, and as I change in reaction to the world around me, then so does my artwork and way of working.
Q. Have you got any particular favourite piece of art? The one you remember made you want to become an artist yourself?
I have always loved the paintings of abstract expressionist Mark Rothko, I’m also a huge fan of Drew Struzan movie posters.
Q. Have you got any advice for the young aspiring artists out there?
Just be yourself!
